I was recently made aware of this book by Desmond & Mpho Tutu & how powerful it can be if we choose to work with it's contents. We all have people in our lives that we need to forgive for small everyday wrongs & sometimes huge life changing wrongs against us.
Forgiveness is rarely easy, reading through this book it is a great reminder that we forgive not to excuse the wrongdoer but to release both us & the perpetrator from the bond that ties us together & it becomes a healing event for the person that has wronged us but mostly & more importantly it can become a deep healing moment for ourselves.
Sometimes forgiveness really is a one time moment & we know without a doubt that release has happened, most times though it seems that it's a continual choice, sometimes over many years.
We/I choose to forgive as it is in my best interest, so I can move on with my life & not be held back by resentments that can often turn us inwards on ourselves, causing bitterness, anger & hatred. Sometimes these feelings if we don't express them can turn against our own bodies & manifest in illnesses and/or pain in our bodies.
I challenge you to look back in your life and see if there are people you still need to break this bond of unforgiveness with, it may not be easy but it will be worth it for you, even if that person is no longer in your life.
This book will give you some tools & things to consider, you are worth it.........
I'm sharing a poem from the book which is beautiful & powerful, enjoy - go ahead & change your life for the better.
Much love & peace to you.
I will forgive you
The words are so small
But there is a universe hidden in them
When I forgive you
All those cords of resentment pain & sadness that had wrapped
themselves around my heart will be gone
When I forgive you
You will no longer define me
You measured me & assessed me and
decided you could hurt me
I didn't count
But I will forgive you
Because I do count
I do matter
I am bigger than the image you have of me
I am stronger
I am more beautiful
And I am infinitely more precious than you thought me
I will forgive you
My forgiveness is not a gift that I am giving to you
When I forgive you
My forgiveness will be a gift that gives it'self to me
